Renewal 2021

What is Renewal 2021?

With a year marked by COVID 19 pandemic lockdowns, social unrest and a contentious presidential election cycle, 2020 has been a year like no one has ever experienced. Many of society’s stabilizing institutions were forced to rethink their mission and purpose, including the Church both here around the world. So we want to take a moment to thank you (the church) for your prayers, presence, witness and faithful giving to the ministry and mission of Hillside UMC in 2020.  Without your support, we would not have been able to “pivot” and adjust our methods for continuing to share the Good News of God’s grace with the community and the world at large.

Because of you, we:
  • Expanded online worship to include Traditional Worship
  • Developed hybrid models of Sunday School and small group discipleship
  • Continued developing discipleship experiences for children and students.
  • Continued to provide much needed resources and support for the poor and those most affected by the pandemic

As we venture into 2021, we believe that God is already doing a new thing in His church - both here and around the world - and we want you to be a part of it! So, we invite you to be a part of the journey of Renewal 2021. This is a time to reflect on our spiritual lives - focusing on our priorities and our commitments - and to invite God to do a “new” thing in our lives - to revive and renew us for His purpose in 2021.

Specifically, we invite you to experience God’s Renewal by doing the following:
  • Pray daily for the church’s ministry and witness to the community and world.
  • Continue to faithfully give God’s tithe and your offerings to the ministry of the Hillside. Malachi 3:10 reminds us:  “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing!”
  • Make a financial commitment to be a part of Hillside’s ministry to love God and love others just like Jesus. Commitment cards will be mailed or available at the church, or you can fill out the online form at
  • Return your commitment card to the church before January 3, 2021 - Epiphany Sunday.
  • Attend worship in-person or online on January 3rd, 2021 as we celebrate and commemorate our collective commitment in the hope of Jesus Christ.

Again, we are grateful for you and for your generous support and faithfulness to Hillside Church’s mission and ministry to the Towne Lake and wider community. May God bless you and grant you favor for your faithfulness!

I faithfully commit to share my financial blessing to fund God's work through Hillside United Methodist Church.
