Renewal 2024

There’s a freshness in the air as the holidays approach.  Families have  made their trips up to the mountains to take in the fall colors, to get fresh apples or to pick out their pumpkins for carving to celebrate Halloween or to decorate for Thanksgiving. Fall is also the time of year that we as Hillside Church intentionally focus on RENEWING our commitment to living a life of faith in the coming year.  And I want to say thank you for being faithful in supporting the mission and ministry of the church in 2023.

Because of your faithfulness, we:

• Continued to offer online participation in both modern and traditional worship and reinstated our 8:30am Service of Word and Table on Sunday mornings.
• Assisted Sunday School classes to return to campus and offered hybrid small group discipleship.
• Continued developing and offering in-person discipleship experiences for children and students.
• Continued to provide much needed resources and support for those in need of assistance both in our community and around the world.

During this last year so many of us have learned what the Word of God testifies: God was faithful, is faithful and will always be faithful. As we venture into 2024, we believe that God is already doing a new thing in His church - both here and around the world - and we want you to be a part of it! With that said, we invite you to be a part of the journey of Renewal 2024. During this season we reflect on our relationship with God, focusing on our priorities and our commitments.    

Specifically, we invite you to experience God’s Renewal in 2024 by doing the following:

• PRAY daily for the church’s ministry and witness to the community and world in the coming year.
• Be PRESENT in worship and/or online regularly.
• Continue to GIVE faithfully and generously. Malachi 3:10 reminds us, “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing!”
• SERVE Christ by serving the needs of others in the church and the community as a way of loving God and others…just like Jesus.
• WITNESS to your faith by offering words of grace and encouragement wherever and whenever you find yourself in the presence of someone in need of God’s presence.

In the Old Testament, God’s people often marked their commitment to follow God by building an altar - often out of field stones - as a visual reminder - a witness - of their covenant with God.

I would like to invite you to establish a reminder of your covenant with God  by doing the following:

• Fill out a RENEWAL 2024 card which are available starting November 26, 2023 -  and commit the best of yourself to the Lord through, prayer, presence, giving, service and witness.
• Return your commitment card to the church before January 7, 2024.
• Attend worship in-person or online on January 7th as we consecrate our gifts to Jesus!

Let this be a holy moment to recommit ourselves to be witnesses for God and invite the Holy Spirit  to do a new thing - to RENEW us - for His purpose in 2024.
